Commission Your Portrait

I understand how important a commissioned portrait can be, so I take great care in not only in creating your original artwork, but also in using professional high quality artist materials. Each commission comes complete with a Certificate of Authenticity and an Art Care Guide.

Select Your Photo

Select a favourite pose, or expression that makes you smile.  I require your highest quality images to capture their detail, personality and expression however I do understand that sometimes older photos aren't as detailed and taking new ones isn't possible. Natural light is the best and it's important to consider the angle that you take the photograph. I can combine different photos into one portrait, don't worry if you don't have a photograph with pets together. 

Because of copyright you must have the photographers permission for me to use the photo.

Pick your size and medium

The medium (Acrylic or Graphite) is really a personal choice, Graphite will be black and white on paper, and Acrylic will be colour on a stretched canvas. 

Consider where in your home you will hang your original artwork, this will help you pick an appropriate size to fit your space. Also consider if you will have your portrait framed. Graphite portraits will need to be framed so consider that the final size will be larger to include mats and a frame. Acrylic portraits are done on a stretched canvas. Most often, with a gallery edge and will have a hanger attached to the back.

Shipping is extra.

Add 50% for a second subject in the same portrait. For 3 or more subjects please contact me for a quote.

There is a maximum number of subjects for each size.

Place your order

Please email all photos to dana@danalmalone.ca as well as your choice of Medium and size. I will contact you to confirm and A 30% non-refundable deposit is also required to secure your spot. Upon receipt of your deposit I will provide an estimated start date. 

I will touch base with you before I am about to begin. The time it takes to complete a portrait varies on the size, medium and number of subjects. Generally it can take 2-6 weeks.

Once your portrait is finished, I will email you a watermarked photograph proof for approval. Small adjustments can be made at this time if necessary.

Upon approval of your proof payment is required in full and your portrait will be carefully packaged for pickup or shipping.
